Mens Accelerate Flag Football Rules

General

  • At the start of each game the captains meet for a coin flip, visitors call the toss.

  • Winner of the coin toss chooses offense or defense and cannot defer to the second half. Loser of the coin toss picks the endzone they want to defend.

  • Teams change sides after the first half.

  • If overtime is needed, another coin flip will take place. The offense will start from half field, and have 3 plays to score. If the offense does not score, or does not score 8 points, the other team has 3 plays from half field.  Who ever scores 8 points first or has the most points after both teams have had 3 plays, wins.

  • The offense has 4 plays to get 2 completions for a first down. Only 1 first down per drive.

  • The offense will start their drive at the 10 yard line.

  • The Quarterback cannot run unless he/she are rushed. (defensive player crosses the line of scrimmage)

  • One 30 second timeout per half. Timeouts do not carry over to the next half.

  • No cleats, only shoes or turf shoes. Shirts tucked, and no jewelry/anything metal exposed.

  • 7 players on the field at a time, and the offense always needs a center to snap. All snaps must pass through the player's legs.

  • 40 minute games with 19 minute halves and a 2 minute half time. Running clock. All playoff games will be 15 minute halves and 30 minute games.

  • All substitutions are made during dead balls.

  • Knee or elbow down of a ball carrier is a dead ball.

  • All players are eligible for a pass.

  • Quarterback has 8 seconds to throw the ball or else the play is blown dead. Unless the Quarterback is rushed, then the Quarterback has to run past the line of scrimmage before the 8 seconds is up.

  • Quarterback cannot run unless they are rushed.

  • Only 1 player can go in motion at a time, and that player must stay parallel to the line of scrimmage.

  • If a flag falls off without without someone pulling it, the ball is down where the flag falls.

  • Inadvertent whistles will result in replay of the down, or taking the ball where it was when the whistle blew.

  • No lead blocking, feet must be set to set a screen.

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct is not tolerated. Any player or coach who verbally or physically abuses another player, ref, or coach will be asked to leave the game/facility and could be grounds to be kicked out of the league with no refund.

Defense/Contact

  • Blocking consists of only screens (basketball screen). No extending arms, hands, or elbows.

  • No blitzing on the snap of the ball, anyone on the defense can rush the quarterback after 4 seconds (**counted out by the referee**)  and the defensive player cannot step on or cross the line of scrimmage until the referee reaches the 4 count. **Defense can cross the line of scrimmage as soon as a handoff or a fake handoff takes place

  • No stripping or forcing fumbles, the ball is dead as soon as it hits the turf and no live balls.

  • No hitting the ball out of a quarterback's or ball carrier's hands. Balls can be batted down defensively, but the ball must leave the quarterback’s hand first.

  • No grabbing of the clothes or body, flags only.

  • No charging or any purposeful contact on the offensive side of the ball other than screening (blocking).

  • No setting screens mid route, and there must be a ball carrier in a 5 yard vicinity to set a screen.

  • Once the ball is handed off or pitched (lateral), everyone on defense can cross the line of scrimmage and rush the ball carrier.

  • A fake handoff/pitch will result in the defense being allowed to rush the ball carrier, but if a defensive player crosses the line of scrimmage the quarterback is allowed to run.

  • Interceptions can be returned during regular play and extra point conversions.

  • Interceptions will be placed for the offense where the flag was pulled.

Scoring/Offense

  • Clock only stops during timeouts and half-time. Play clock will run continuously.

  • No flag guarding. (This includes stiff arms, dropping the shoulder, or any form of slapping the defensive player's hand away from grabbing the flag.)

  • 5 yards in front of the endzone is a no run zone, the offense must throw to score within 5 yards. This rule only applies if and when you are running a play from the 5 yard line or in.

  • Safeties are worth 2 points, touchdowns are worth 6 points, Extra points are worth 1 (from the 5 yard line) or 2 points (from the 10 yard line).

  • 1 foot in bounds with full control of the ball for a legal reception.

  • If the offense fails to score (turnover on downs), the ball changes possession and the other team takes over from the 10 yard line.

Player Information and Eligibility

1. Each team must have at least five (5) Players on their roster and be registered as a team by the

predetermined entry deadline. Roster Max is twelve (12) Players. A deposit of $50 must be made before the

entry deadline. If you do not complete payment by the Payment deadline (3rd game into the season) your

team will forfeit every game until Accelerate Sports receives the full payment. If by the 5th game you have not paid the League Fee your team will be ejected from the League. Additions and/or changes on roster will not be permitted under any circumstance after the roster deadline.

2. Payment deadline is 3rd game into the season.

3. The roster deadline is the 3rd game into the season. After the 3rd game no changes can be made to the

roster.

4. Players may appear on only one (1) team roster for each League. Any player appearing on more than one (1)team roster may be disqualified from participation in that League.

5. If any player’s personal information listed on team application is inaccurate (e.g. age, height, experience),

the player will be eliminated from participation in the League. Discovery at any time after registration of

the player is in question may result in the elimination of the whole team from competition.

6. No refunds will be given for any reason!


All team coaches/managers are responsible for communicating ALL the rules to their players.

Accelerate Sports uses official NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules and Regulations regarding fouls, free throws, game play etc. with the following expectations listed below.

? Every player must be wearing the same color shirt/jersey. If needed, Accelerate Sports will provide pinnies

to teams who are not correctly dressed.

? Both teams will warm-up at the same time prior to the start of the game. Warm-up time will be three (3)

minutes on court. Only those teams scheduled to play are allowed to occupy the court at the scheduled time.

? Teams must be at their court at the scheduled game time, even if games are running behind.

? PLEASE be at your court before the scheduled game time and stay there until your game is played.


OFFICIALS

? The officials will call fouls and violations.

? There will be two (2) officials per game

? The Officials have authority to control play on their court, including the right to ‘sit’ a player for a period

of time, eject a player from a game or games and/or eject a player from the League.

? Once play resumes after a disagreement or appeal, the decision is considered to be final. No further appeals

will be allowed at that point.


TIME LIMIT/SCORING

? A basket made before the three (3) point line will be worth two (2) points

? A basket made from behind the three (3) point line will be worth three (3) points

? Free throws will be worth one (1) point.

? All games will be played with four (4)- ten (10) minute quarters and a running clock. The clock will stop at the last 2 minutes of the half and of the game. The official starting time will be recorded by the official. (The “official time” will only be stopped during timeouts and/or injury.)


TIME OUTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

? Each team is allowed two(2)-30 second time-outs per half.

? If play is stopped by a teammate or official because of injury, then the injured player must sit out until the

next dead ball.

? Player substitution is only permitted during any dead ball situation. Referee must waive substitute player in

during time of substitution.



DEFENSE

? Zone Defense can be played throughout the game.

? You can press throughout the game as long as you do not lead by 15pts or more. A team foul (Technical Foul) will be awarded after two warnings.


FOULS AND FREE THROWS

? All shooting fouls will be handled in the following manner:

? When the basket is made, count the basket and when the ensuing free throw is made, possession

goes to the defensive team. If missed the ball is live.

? If the free throw is made, possession goes to the defensive team. If the free throw is missed, the

ball is live.

? Two (2) free-throws will be awarded to the player if fouled in the act of shooting from inside the 3 pt. arc.

? One (1) Point and Two (2) Shots are awarded if fouled while shooting behind the 3 pt. line.

? Non-shooting Fouls-on and after the 7th team foul will be handled in the following manner:

? 1 and 1

? If both shots are made the defensive team gets the ball.

? If the free throw is missed, the ball is live.

? If the foul is committed as time expires, a free throw will be awarded to the fouled player.

? All free throws are dead balls.

? In any situation (including technical fouls), the designated shooter will shoot from the free throw line for

one (1) point.

? All technical fouls will be counted as a team foul.

? On and after the 10th team foul the fouled player gets two (2) free throw shots. Ball is live if second shot is

missed. If second shot is made, defensive team gets ball.








TECHNICAL FOULS

? DEFINITION: The official may assess a technical foul for any misconduct, flagrant or intentional fouls

committed by a player(s). This may include:

? A contact foul intended to hurt an opponent, fan or official

? vulgar or verbally abusive behavior

? Other misconduct deemed inappropriate by the official

? A contact foul designed to neutralize an opponent's obvious advantageous position.

? PENALTY: The designated shooter will shoot two (2) free throws from the free throw line for 1 point each.

The player shooting must have both feet completely behind the line when initiating and completing the

attempt.

? The team captain may designate the player to shoot

? the offended team will retain possession of the ball whether the shots are made or missed. Any

player committing five (5) fouls in a game is automatically ejected from that game.

? Two technical fouls given to a player will be ejected from the game.

? Fighting or throwing a punch automatically results in a technical foul assessed against the player(s)

involved. Free throws will be awarded as described above and will result in immediate dismissal of the

player(s) from the League.

? Any player ejected from an Accelerate Sports League for misconduct, intentional and/or flagrant fouling

and fighting will be automatically banned from participation in future Accelerate Sports Leagues for one

(1) year.


MISCELLANEOUS

? No alcoholic beverage or tobacco will be allowed for player, coach, parent, spectator consumption on-site.

? The team captain is always the team Spokesperson , not a coach, parent, spectator, or one of the other

players. We ask that all coaches and parents play the role of a spectator only.

Accelerate Flag Football Rules

 

General

  • At the start of each game the captains meet for a coin flip, visitors call the toss.

  • Winner of the coin toss chooses offense or defense and cannot defer to the second half. Loser of the coin toss picks the endzone they want to defend.

  • Teams change sides after the first half.

  • If overtime is needed, another coin flip will take place. The offense will start from half field, and have 3 plays to score. If the offense does not score, or does not score 8 points, the other team has 3 plays from half field.  Who ever scores 8 points first or has the most points after both teams have had 3 plays, wins.

  • The offense has 4 plays to score, and there are no first downs.

  • The offense will start their drive at the 5 yard line.

  • The Quarterback cannot run unless he/she are rushed. (defensive player crosses the line of scrimmage)

  • One 60 second timeout per half. Timeouts do not carry over to the next half.

  • No cleats, only shoes or turf shoes. Shirts tucked, and no jewelry/anything metal exposed.

  • 6 players on the field at a time, and the offense always needs a center to snap. All snaps must pass through the player's legs.

  • 50 minute games with 25 minute halves. With a 2-3 minute half time. Running clock.

  • All substitutions are made during dead balls.

  • Knee or elbow down of a ball carrier is a dead ball.

  • All players are eligible for a pass.

  • Quarterback has 8 seconds to throw the ball or else the play is blown dead. Unless the Quarterback is rushed, then the Quarterback has to run past the line of scrimmage before the 8 seconds is up.

  • Only 1 player can go in motion at a time, and that player must stay parallel to the line of scrimmage.

  • If a flag falls off without without someone pulling it, the ball is down where the flag falls.

  • Inadvertent whistles will result in replay of the down, or taking the ball where it was when the whistle blew.

  • No lead blocking, feet must be set to set a screen.

  • Spinning is allowed, but players may not leave their feet to avoid a flag pull or to advance the ball (no end-zone diving). Jumping is reserved to avoid contact only.

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct is not tolerated. Any player or coach who verbally or physically abuses another player, ref, or coach will be asked to leave the game/facility and could be grounds to be kicked out of the league with no refund.

 

Defense/Contact

  • Blocking consists of only screens (basketball screen). No extending arms, hands, or elbows.

  • No blitzing on the snap of the ball, anyone on the defense can rush the quarterback after 4 seconds (**counted out by the referee**)  and the defensive player cannot step on or cross the line of scrimmage until the referee reaches the 4 count.

  • No stripping or forcing fumbles, the ball is dead as soon as it hits the turf and no live balls.

  • No hitting the ball out of a quarterback's or ball carrier's hands. Balls can be batted down defensively, but the ball must leave the quarterback’s hand first.

  • No grabbing of the clothes or body, flags only.

  • No charging or any purposeful contact on the offensive side of the ball other than screening (blocking).

  • No setting screens mid route, and there must be a ball carrier in a 5 yard vicinity to set a screen.

  • Ball is placed where the players feet are when the play is dead, not the ball.

  • Once the ball is handed off or pitched (lateral), everyone on defense can cross the line of scrimmage and rush the ball carrier.

  • A fake handoff/pitch will result in the defense being allowed to rush the ball carrier, but if a defensive player crosses the line of scrimmage the quarterback is allowed to run.

  • Interceptions can be returned during regular play but not during an extra point conversion.

  • Interceptions will be placed for the offense where the flag was pulled.

Scoring/Offense

  • Clock only stops during timeouts and half-time. Play clock will run continuously.

Volleyball Rules

General

? The behavior of all team members is the direct responsibility of the team manager.

? The team manager is also responsible for distributing all rules, schedules, and information to their teammates.

? Unsportsmanlike conduct toward officials or other players will not be tolerated. Violations are subject to suspensions from the league and/or game forfeiture at the discretion of the League Coordinator.

? The conduct of fans/children is the direct responsibility of the team and players. Fans/children must be seated in the bleachers and abide by the Accelerate Sports Facility Rules. While games are being played, fans/children must remain in the gym or lobby area only. The rest of the Recreation Center is off limits, as is the league equipment. Any misconduct by your fans/children will result in game forfeiture assessed by the League Coordinator and possible suspension of membership privileges.



Match Rules

Number of Players

? A Complete team consists of six (6) players, but a minimum of four (4) players is required to start and continue a game.

? A Coed team with enough players to start but not with the appropriate gender amount, shall receive a forfeit. Throughout the duration of the match, a minimum of two (2) females must be on the court at all times.


Roster

? The Roster limit of eligible participants on your roster will be 15

? Rosters must be finalized by week three (3). In order to participate in playoffs, each member of the roster must participate in at least three (3) league games.

? An Illegal player is anyone who participates on your team that is not on your Roster. If an Illegal player if found playing on your team during a game, that team receives an automatic loss of the match.


Length of Games and Matches

? The team first to score twenty five (25) points in a game shall win that game. A team must win by two (2) Points. Each match will consist of three (3) games. Best two (2) out of three (3) games wins that match.


Ball

? Accelerate Sports will provide game ball. Teams must provide their own ball(s) for warmup.

? If a team brings their own ball and would like to use it during the game, the opposing team must agree to this.


Court Area

? Courts are lined for boundaries as well as the center (net) line that divides the playing area.

? Any ball that contacts the ceiling may be played as it is on your side and you have hits left to play. However, the ball is considered out of bounds if the ball crosses over to the other side of the court.

? Beach Volleyball: The sand pits are lined accordingly for the division. (2v2, 6v6Men’s,

Women’s, Coed)


Serving

? To legally serve the ball, the player’s last contact with the ground before contacting the ball must be behind the back service line, anywhere along it’s length. It is legal if the ball contacts the net and lands within the boundaries of the court.

? Sand Volleyball: After the serve, you can contact the ball with an open hand tip, set, bump etc.

Successive contacts

? Players, blockers and/or opponents will only allow successive contacts in situations of simultaneous contacts.


Area of contact

? Players may contact the ball with any part of the body.


Blocking

? Only front row players are permitted to block. Any player is considered as having the intention of affecting a block of the player places one or both hands above his head while in position close to the net to block the ball after the opponent's third hit or after an attack. An attack is defined as any third hit on one side of the net, or any ball that is played with the intent to send it over the beck. A block does not count as a team’s first play. It is Illegal to block a serve.


Contacting the Net

? Contact with the net is only a fault if it is made during the action of playing the ball, or if it interferes with the play.


Substitutions

? Substitutions will occur at the serving position and is unlimited. Subbing may only occur when there is a dead ball.


Referee

? You must referee your scheduled games. If a team does not show to referee a scheduled game, that team will have one win taken away and will forfeit their next game. I will assign officials starting WEEK 2.

Basketball Rules and Regulations


Player Information and Eligibility

1. Each team must have at least five (5) Players on their roster and be registered as a team by the

predetermined entry deadline. Roster Max is twelve (12) Players. A deposit of $50 must be made before the

entry deadline. If you do not complete payment by the Payment deadline (3rd game into the season) your

team will forfeit every game until Accelerate Sports receives the full payment. If by the 5th game you have not paid the League Fee your team will be ejected from the League. Additions and/or changes on roster will not be permitted under any circumstance after the roster deadline.

2. Payment deadline is 3rd game into the season.

3. The roster deadline is the 3rd game into the season. After the 3rd game no changes can be made to the

roster.

4. Players may appear on only one (1) team roster for each League. Any player appearing on more than one (1)team roster may be disqualified from participation in that League.

5. If any player’s personal information listed on team application is inaccurate (e.g. age, height, experience),

the player will be eliminated from participation in the League. Discovery at any time after registration of

the player is in question may result in the elimination of the whole team from competition.

6. No refunds will be given for any reason!


All team coaches/managers are responsible for communicating ALL the rules to their players.

Accelerate Sports uses official NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules and Regulations regarding fouls, free throws, game play etc. with the following expectations listed below.






PRE-GAME

? All games may start and be completed with at least 4 players.

? Every player must be wearing the same color shirt/jersey. If needed, Accelerate Sports will provide pinnies

to teams who are not correctly dressed.

? Both teams will warm-up at the same time prior to the start of the game. Warm-up time will be three (3)

minutes on court. Only those teams scheduled to play are allowed to occupy the court at the scheduled time.

? Teams must be at their court at the scheduled game time, even if games are running behind.

? PLEASE be at your court before the scheduled game time and stay there until your game is played.


OFFICIALS

? The officials will call fouls and violations.

? There will be two (2) officials per game

? The Officials have authority to control play on their court, including the right to ‘sit’ a player for a period

of time, eject a player from a game or games and/or eject a player from the League.

? Once play resumes after a disagreement or appeal, the decision is considered to be final. No further appeals

will be allowed at that point.


TIME LIMIT/SCORING

? A basket made before the three (3) point line will be worth two (2) points

? A basket made from behind the three (3) point line will be worth three (3) points

? Free throws will be worth one (1) point.

? All games will be played with four (4)- ten (10) minute quarters and a running clock. The clock will stop at the last 2 minutes of the half and of the game. The official starting time will be recorded by the official. (The “official time” will only be stopped during timeouts and/or injury.)


TIME OUTS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

? Each team is allowed two(2)-30 second time-outs per half.

? If play is stopped by a teammate or official because of injury, then the injured player must sit out until the

next dead ball.

? Player substitution is only permitted during any dead ball situation. Referee must waive substitute player in

during time of substitution.



DEFENSE

? Zone Defense can be played throughout the game.

? You can press throughout the game as long as you do not lead by 15pts or more. A team foul (Technical Foul) will be awarded after two warnings.


FOULS AND FREE THROWS

? All shooting fouls will be handled in the following manner:

? When the basket is made, count the basket and when the ensuing free throw is made, possession

goes to the defensive team. If missed the ball is live.

? If the free throw is made, possession goes to the defensive team. If the free throw is missed, the

ball is live.

? Two (2) free-throws will be awarded to the player if fouled in the act of shooting from inside the 3 pt. arc.

? One (1) Point and Two (2) Shots are awarded if fouled while shooting behind the 3 pt. line.

? Non-shooting Fouls-on and after the 7th team foul will be handled in the following manner:

? 1 and 1

? If both shots are made the defensive team gets the ball.

? If the free throw is missed, the ball is live.

? If the foul is committed as time expires, a free throw will be awarded to the fouled player.

? All free throws are dead balls.

? In any situation (including technical fouls), the designated shooter will shoot from the free throw line for

one (1) point.

? All technical fouls will be counted as a team foul.

? On and after the 10th team foul the fouled player gets two (2) free throw shots. Ball is live if second shot is

missed. If second shot is made, defensive team gets ball.








TECHNICAL FOULS

? DEFINITION: The official may assess a technical foul for any misconduct, flagrant or intentional fouls

committed by a player(s). This may include:

? A contact foul intended to hurt an opponent, fan or official

? vulgar or verbally abusive behavior

? Other misconduct deemed inappropriate by the official

? A contact foul designed to neutralize an opponent's obvious advantageous position.

? PENALTY: The designated shooter will shoot two (2) free throws from the free throw line for 1 point each.

The player shooting must have both feet completely behind the line when initiating and completing the

attempt.

? The team captain may designate the player to shoot

? the offended team will retain possession of the ball whether the shots are made or missed. Any

player committing five (5) fouls in a game is automatically ejected from that game.

? Two technical fouls given to a player will be ejected from the game.

? Fighting or throwing a punch automatically results in a technical foul assessed against the player(s)

involved. Free throws will be awarded as described above and will result in immediate dismissal of the

player(s) from the League.

? Any player ejected from an Accelerate Sports League for misconduct, intentional and/or flagrant fouling

and fighting will be automatically banned from participation in future Accelerate Sports Leagues for one

(1) year.


MISCELLANEOUS

? No alcoholic beverage or tobacco will be allowed for player, coach, parent, spectator consumption on-site.

? The team captain is always the team Spokesperson , not a coach, parent, spectator, or one of the other

players. We ask that all coaches and parents play the role of a spectator only.
